Zeppelins Over London

When the TARDIS encounters a massive anomaly, which causes it to suddenly lose power, The Doctor discovers that the time vortex has vanished and the TARDIS is now dead.

At least they have arrived in London, but The Doctor, Rose Tyler and Mickey Smith soon realise that it is not the London they know... there are zeppelins in the sky and Rose is startled to discover a billboard advert with photos of her late father, Pete Tyler.

It seems the TARDIS has entered another universe. There they discover that a company called Cybus Industries, run by a man called John Lumic, is the major power in this alternate version of London. But Cybus Industries is involved in a top-secret project. And one of the people involved in his project is Pete Tyler who has arranged a birthday party for his wife - Jackie.

Rose and The Doctor

Despite The Doctor warning Rose and Mickey not to interfere with this world, Mickey goes to see his grandmother, but is mistaken for a member of an underground resistance group against Cybus Industries called the Preachers. Mickey finds himself bundled into the back of a van as it seems the Preachers believe Mickey is their leader, Ricky and so everyone is in for a shock when they arrive at their headquarters, and find that Ricky is already there.

Meanwhile Rose and The Doctor discover that Cybus Industries is putting out a strange signal, which has affected everyone wearing earpods. Rose also learns of the party being held at the Tyler estate and so they both become servants in order to gain access. It is then that The Doctor discovers the terrible truth about what Lumic is trying to accomplish.

But during the party The Doctor and Rose watch horrified as hundreds of metal men, which The Doctor recognises as Cybermen, approaching the house with orders to destroy all resistance.

As the Cybermen take control of London and start converting the population The Doctor, Rose and Mickey find themselves fugitives. Will The Doctor manage to stop the deaths at the hands of the Cybermen? How will Mickey react when Ricky is killed by the pursuing Cybermen?

As John Lumic begins operating his master plan the controlled populace of London begin a march towards Cybus facilities where they are to be "upgraded". However, it seems that the Cybermen are one step ahead of him, realising that he too is human and inferior to them; they set about "upgrading" him as well.

A Cybermen

While infiltrating the main Cybus facility The Doctor discovers that Jackie has already been turned into a Cyberman. The Doctor then confronts the Cyber-Controller, the "upgraded" John Lumic, while on the zeppelin, Mickey and Jake manage to disable the control signal and so release the humans who have not already been converted.

It is just left to disable the Cybermen and to destroy the Cyber-Controller and to find a way back to our universe. But for one of The Doctor’s companions travelling in the TARDIS is at an end…
