Dalek
Empire 2
- The Human Factor
(Nicholas Briggs) |
|
This is the
second story and was released in August 2001. It has been
written and directed by Nicholas Briggs and was recorded
on 3rd June 2001.
In
line with the second instalment's title, "The Human Factor",
the cover design, by Clayton Hickman, has a human face
to it this time, in the shape of actress Sarah Mowat,
who plays one of the mini-series' leading characters,
Susan Mendes.
With
Susan Mendes captured and enslaved by the Daleks on Planet
Vega VI she finds herself repeatedly being interrogated
by the Dalek Supreme. Near breaking point she craves hope
and knows it is the key to survival for her race. After
saving the life of Kalendorf a friendship between them
develops. Kalendorf though knows the Daleks of old and
does not trust their motives even when Suz apparently
convinces them that their slaves need food and rest.
Meanwhile
Alby Brook, Having escaped from Vega VI just before the
Daleks invaded, knows in his heart that he must find Suz
again. He meets journalist Gordon Pellan who has found
himself onboard the cruise ship Aquitania which is being
attacked by the Daleks. Thanks to Alby he is still alive
but now finds himself tagging along on Alby's love-sick
search for Suz.
Disobeying the orders of the Space Security
Service Alby heads back to the Vega system in hot pursuit on the trail of Suz.
The Daleks though have now transported her, along with Kalendorf, to the
Garrazone system for an unknown purpose
Alby Brook and
Gordon Pellan are following the best information they have to locate Suz in
Dalek-infested space. But what is it the Daleks want with her? On the slave
planet Guria, Alby discovers Suz is already gaining a reputation as something
of an angel of mercy. Could it be that she is now working for the Daleks?
But as
Suz and Kalendorf travel from planet to planet a murmur of defiance is
growing

On the Inside
Cover: THE DALEK ADVANCE Since the
Daleks invaded the Vega System, their advance has been unstoppable.
Regrettably, our strategy has been to fall back and
regroup, not engaging the Daleks unless absolutely necessary. This has meant
that very nearly an eighth of the entire Milky Way has already fallen to the
Daleks. But here, my fellow officers, here in the Gurian System we
will finally make our stand...
