The Doctor and Rose

Scotland, 1879, and at a quiet manor the estate's owners, Sir Robert and Lady Isobel and their staff are attacked by disciples with strange, superhuman abilities…

Meanwhile The Doctor has promised Rose Tyler a trip to 1979 London but instead the TARDIS manages to land one century earlier on the Scottish highlands, materializing right next to an armed travelling party and a horse-drawn coach, inside which is none other than Queen Victoria. Using his psychic paper the two join the caravan, which is en route to Balmoral castle, the Queen's usual trip via train having been waylaid by a mysterious accident on the tracks.

The caravan stops for the night at the home of Sir Robert, who attempts to dissuade them from entering but because his wife is held hostage, along with the rest of the staff in the cellar, he is forced to agree to them staying the night.

Queen Victoria

All seems well until Rose discovers a woman, called Flora, hiding in her closet who informs her of what is going on. But before she can warn The Doctor Queen Victoria's guards have already been knocked unconscious and Rose and Flora are taken down to the cellar where they find themselves incarcerated with a solitary man trapped in a cage – which when suddenly struck by moonlight, begins a transformation... into a werewolf…

The group escapes and flees and so a race is on to find somewhere safe, where they can protect Queen Victoria, within the manor. As the werewolf continues its rampage through the house, something prevents it from entering the master study; The Doctor deduces that oil of mistletoe has been spread upon the walls, which somehow repels the creature.

Rose Tyler

The Doctor eventually puts the mystery together, Centuries before, an alien craft crashed on Earth; nothing survived but cellular matter, which has affected one person in every generation... a consciousness passed from one person to another, growing in strength and manifesting itself through werewolves.

Just as the werewolf begins its newest attack it forces The Doctor, Rose and Victoria to flee to the manor’s observatory – there they find Sir Robert's father's prized, uncompleted telescope and with the help of a large diamond, that Queen Victoria has with her, The Doctor is able to use them both to redirect and concentrate the moonlight to destroy the werewolf…

But before it died did the werewolf manage to bite Queen Victoria so that her bloodline now carries the curse all over again?
