Elton Pope

When a man called Elton Pope finds a strange blue police box in a deserted industrial area, and then comes face-to-face with an alien that lunges towards him, he finds himself in the presence of The Doctor and Rose Tyler. The Doctor recognises Elton, who runs out of the factory in a panic. It would seem that this was not the first time Elton has met The Doctor and it would not be the last.

So fascinated with the exploits of The Doctor and his companion Elton decides to create a video diary about how his ordinary life was transformed, starting with the night he first met The Doctor in his old family home when he was a young child, and continuing with his experiences with the recent various invasions of Earth by the Autons, the Slitheen and the Sycorax.

It was during the Sycorax invasion that led him to meet his friend Ursula who then took him to meet a group of her friends who were also studying The Doctor. As time goes by, the meetings of LINDA (London Investigation 'N' Detective Agency) become less and less about The Doctor, and more of a social gathering.

Elton Discovers the TARDIS

However, all this changes when during the middle of a meeting, where they are in the process of forming their own band, Victor Kennedy turns up and takes command and gets the group to take a much more logical and active approach to finding The Doctor.

Victor’s investigation techniques prove successful as it is not long before and they track down the TARDIS but of The Doctor there is no sign. The group is therefore tasked with locating Rose, and so they are deployed around London to find her. By more luck then judgement Elton almost immediately finds Jackie and becomes acquainted with her easily, regularly paying visits to fix things she supposedly has broken in her flat. However, all of Elton’s hard work to locate Rose comes to an abrupt end when Jackie realises that Elton is more interested in her daughter than herself – and that Elton’s interest involves in him having a photo of Rose.

Chasing Aliens

But strange things are happening within LINDA as members of the group are disappearing. When questioned Victor is able to fob them off. But it is clear that Victor is responsible. But why is he apparently killing members of the group one-by-one, who is he anyway and why is he so interested in locating The Doctor.

Having failed in his task to locate Rose Elton storms back to LINDA HQ and tells Victor he has had enough and that he has ruined his enjoyment of being part of LINDA. As he walks out with Ursula, she realises that she has left her phone behind and so returns to the hall and it is then that the truth behind Victor is revealed – he is in fact a bloated green alien creature, which Elton dubs as an "Abzorbaloff". They also realise that Victor has not just killed the missing members of LINDA but has in fact absorbed them as their faces can be seen all over his body.

Victor tells them he wants to absorb The Doctor which is why he has enlisted their services to find him, which ultimately failed. Horrified at the fate of her friends Ursula demands that Victor returns his victims, but in doing so he absorbs her instead.

Sickened by what has happened to Ursula, who Elton has come to feel is more than just a friend, he finds himself chased by the Abzorbaloff and cornered in an alley. Realising that there is no escape and that he is about to join Ursula, and the rest of the group, Elton is about to surrender when the TARDIS appears nearby and The Doctor and Rose step out.

Will the Abzorbaloff be defeated or will he be able to absorb The Doctor? And what of Elton’s beloved Ursula? Elton’s is about to find out what happens when you come into contact with The Doctor and that life is so much different from the way you think it's going to be…
