With the announcement that the Eighth
Doctor would be appearing in his own series of audio adventures,
with new companion Lucie Miller, on the digital radio station
BBC7 in the early part of 2007, and with the subsequent
announcement that a second series was being planned, Big
Finish Productions have decided to end the inclusion of
the Eighth Doctor in their main Doctor Who audio
range. "The
Girl Who Never Was" will
therefore be the last for long-running companion Charley
Pollard (played by India Fisher) - "Absolution" will
be C’rizz, (played by Conrad Westmaas) last story.
The Eighth Doctor will then be continuing
his adventures with Lucie Miller, played
by Sheridan Smith. The first of eight new
stories has already been recorded. "Grand
Theft Cosmos", by Eddie Robson, guest
stars Michael Maloney (Truly, Madly,
Deeply)
and Christopher Benjamin ("The
Talons of Weng-Chiang") and
features the return of Katarina Olsson as
the Headhunter.
Another confirmed title is
"The Zygon Who Fell To Earth",
by Paul Magrs. "Horror
of Glam Rock" set up
a bit of a musical theme for
us in these stories, and this
time we move from the 1970s
to the 1980s. But don’t
worry, no singing Zygons allowed!” Nick
assures us.
