Ninth Doctor Intro Screen

 After the airing of the first three stories: "Rose", "The End of the World" and "The Unquiet Dead" the BBC has announced that the viewing figures so far have been very good.

Below are the average viewing figures (in millions) for each story:

"The Unquiet Dead" was another strong ratings scorer, beating "The Royal Wedding" (6.2 million), "The Grand National" (7.3 million), "Casualty" (8.0 million) and "Ant and Dec's Saturdaynight Takeaway"(7.1 million).

The programme followed the trend of previous weeks, and gained over a million viewers across the episode, starting out at 7.7 and climbing to 8.9.

This makes this the third time that Doctor Who has been the top favourite Saturday programme which has now made an avearge of 8.5 million viewers for the whole season to-date.
