Doctor Who - The Scripts

Book - The Scripts: Season 12
Season 12: The Scripts
BBC Books have announced that they have plans for an ongoing series of large format Doctor Who - The Scripts books that will eventually cover the entire series. The much-delayed launch has been rescheduled for later in 2001, and the series will begin with Season Twelve, (The Fourth Doctor's first five stories).

Titled "The Scripts: Season 12" the first book was to be published in November 2000 but has been delayed due to clearance problems. It was hoped that it would be released in April 2001 but this has now been put back until October 2001.

According to Justin Richards, a contributing editor, the book will be "heavily illustrated in both black and white and colour. There will be complete camera scripts (not the camera instructions though) for each of the season 12 stories, plus 'front matter' consisting of a review, background production notes, transmission, cast & crew details, etc. Each script will be heavily annotated to show deletions, additions and specific production details".

The scripts will be feature extra detailed annotation, and will feature extensive production information supplied from the In-Vision magazine.

Other members of the team involved with this project are Barnaby Harsent who is co-editor and Andrew Pixley who is the book consultant.

It is understood that a second volume is already being planned. "The Scripts: Season 7" will cover the first season of the Third Doctor season. It will only get the go ahead depending on healthy sales of "The Scripts: Season 12". This second book could be available for sale early in 2002.
