| The Greatest TV Characters |
 Channel 4 in the UK recently ran a vote to establish the
"Greatest TV Character of all time ever to appear on British Television". The
results were broadcast over the Bank Holiday weekend of the 6th and 7th May
2001.
The fantastic news is that The Doctor came in at number 6.
The top 10 winners were:
- Homer Simpson - The Simpsons
- Basil Fawlty - Fawlty Towers
- Edmund Blackadder - Blackadder series
- Del Boy - Only Fools and Horses
- Father Dougal - Father Ted
- The Doctor - Doctor Who
- Alan Partridge - Knowing Me, Knowing You
- Ali G - 11 O'Clock Show, Ali G Show
- Victor Meldrew - One Foot in the Grave
- Dr Niles Crane - Frasier
