For the first time since the 1996 TV movie, Paul McGann will reprise his role as the Eighth Doctor in a linked season of four new audio dramas from Big Finish Productions. Titled "Storm Warning", "Sword of Orion", "The Stones of Venice" and "Minuet in Hell" these four stories were recorded back-to-back in early May and are due to be released over consecutive months starting in January, 2001.

After extensive negotiations with Big Finish Productions actor Paul McGann, who played the Eighth Doctor in the 1996 Doctor Who television movie (and whose only subsequent return to the Doctor Who fold was to read stories for the audio story, "Earth and Beyond"), has taped four Doctor Who audio plays.

Recorded in secrecy between 15-19 May Paul McGann taped these four stories in sequence so as to fit in with his busy schedule. Joining McGann for his return will be actress India Fisher (who has a guest shot in the recently released "Winter for the Adept") playing the role of new companion Charley Pollard a 1930's teenager. The first story, titled "Storm Warning", will introduce Charley who stows away aboard the R101 airship on its maiden voyage.

Also making a return visit, in the fourth story, will be Nicholas Courtney as Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart. This will complete Courtney's fame as the only actor in Doctor Who history to star alongside all eight actors who have portrayed The Doctor.

Since being awarded the licence to produce Doctor Who audio dramas by the BBC, it has always been Big Finish's hope and intention to produce further adventures of the Eighth Doctor and, after a lot of time and effort, they are delighted to be able to make this announcement.
