The latest news on Louise Jameson

During the Summer and Autumn of 2000 the BBC are re-showing, during the weekday afternoons on BBC1 at 2.05pm, the popular detective series Bergerac that was filmed in the Channel Islands and mostly on Jersey. This series not only had a huge contribution by Robert Holmes but also co-stared, in a number of episodes Louise Jameson playing the part of Jim Bergerac's girlfriend Susan.

Rosa di Marco

Also of sad note concerning actress Louise Jameson the week commencing 31 July 2000 was the last time that we were able to see her, playing the part of Rosa di Marco, in the famous BBC soap Eastenders. Since 29 January 1998 she has played the part of Rosa the owner of a family run Italian restaurant called Guiseppe's on George Street. As well as the family business Rosa is also mother to two sons and two daughters all of whom have caused her no end of worry and concern. However, it is the current events regarding her youngest daughter Nicky which finally causes her, and the majority of her family, to up root and to leave not only the restaurant but Albert Square behind. For me she is sadly missed.

Of course to Doctor Who fans Louise is more famous for her role as companion Leela the rebellious leather clad Sevateem warrior during the Fourth Doctor's era.

As a tribute to Louise Jameson my character profiles will shortly include a full page on her career and the character of Leela.
